Re: The Artbooks - Updated!

In Canada the drinking age is 19. That always seems odd to me, but it's a useful reminder that to many people Ronfar wouldn't be that far off even if his age were in any way reasonable. Of course, most JRPGs have ridiculous ages for their casts anyway. This seems like the sort of thing a fan would a...

Re: Activism, Social Justice, Protests and you: The Political Discussion Containment Thread

Arlia. You are free to refrain from reading threads that explicitly discuss things that don't interest you. Indeed, it's right there in the title of the thread: Political Discussion Containment Thread. That is, contained here so it doesn't spill over into the rest of the forum. Why is this difficult...

Re: Zelda BotW music topic (split from Game Sack topic)

I will say that there's one way BotW breaks from Zelda tradition that annoys me a great deal: it has voice acting. The occasional "Hey! Listen!" or "AAAAAAAAAHHHHH" in other games doesn't bother me, but I really deeply dislike having whole scenes voiced. Among other reasons, hear...

Re: Zelda BotW music topic (split from Game Sack topic)

Dragon Song is disliked mainly because of gameplay issues. If those were mitigated we could have a better idea of how it stacks up to other Lunar games. By the way, last night spouse and I finally got to the Death Mountain region of Zelda BotW and were enjoying the sparse piano version of Zelda 1's ...

Re: When do you need to take breaks from games?

My housemate and I took a three-week break from Vay when we encountered the Wind Elemental, during which we played another game through to completion. =) We did finish Vay eventually. Which reminds me that I have it on my phone and could be replaying it, if I had more hands and possibly an extra bra...

Re: Zelda BotW music topic (split from Game Sack topic)

I really, really don't think you can make any statements about Nintendo "killing Zelda" without playing it. Sure, this game is different from previous ones. So was Ocarina. So was Phantom Hourglass. It's all right for each game to not be a clone. I was a little bothered by the music in Maj...

Zelda BotW music topic (split from Game Sack topic)

Hey folks, just a quick request to not inadvertently (or, er, vertently) slip much in the way of spoilers for Zelda in. Spouse and I are still only about a quarter of the way through, despite putting many hours in. That said, if you haven't played the game, the little piano licks won't make much sen...

Re: Jessica: strong female character or missed opportunity?

That would make sense to me, especially since by the time even of Lunar 1 the noble family that Jessica's mother is from is barely known. And after all, the mansion already had training grounds and such. Is it explicit that Jessica never came to govern Meribia herself, though? I can think of reasons...

Re: LN Book Club! Currently about: 1984, (we can add more)

I really should read 1984 for basic cultural literacy. We were given a choice between it and Brave New World, and I chose the latter.

I've certainly heard about it, including the language, so I'd be interested in reading what you say.

Re: Our cat is pretty great.

"Prel" was a random combo of sounds that Jenner put together 'cause it sounded right. That seems as good a reason as any. Do vets ask also? Our original vet used to refer to us as "the people with the cats with the funny names." This is our bunny boy, Aliquot. He is the softest ...

Re: Activism, Social Justice, Protests and you: The Political Discussion Containment Thread

The news about the science march is troubling, but completely unsurprising. The lab I work in (as admin support; I'm not a scientist myself) has always been fairly diverse (at one point I was dealing with hiring paperwork for people of six different nationalities, including Iranian and Nepalese), bu...

Re: Our cat is pretty great.

I have a cat who is as soft as a bunny, but it's hard to convey that softness in pictures. Also, I think I can't attach pics larger than 256K and would need to resize most of them to reach that... but maybe some of my earlier pics would work. I suppose I should learn to use picture hosting and links...

Haven't played the game so I can't speak to it, but after reading the spoiler I concur on the need for cute pictures. Most of mine are too big to attach though.

I'm going to resist (for now, at least) correcting all the minor inaccuracies and just say that Jennering is a highly-evocative verb. =D

Re: What to update?

Oh, and I was recently asked on Twitter for a link to a list of differences between TSS and its remakes. It's a weird thing for us not to have up, certainly, though I'm sure there are such pages elsewhere. Thought maybe I'd draft one in a post for LNetians to add to. (unfinished-projects++)

Re: What to update?

I scanned the entire Lunar I+II artbook a few months ago (though I think I need to redo one section). I haven't considered doing that with the SSS one, because I'd have to take it apart (the one I scanned already had a loose binding so I did take that one apart; I'd bought it for that purpose). I ha...

Re: Send in the clowns...

FFXV's product placement is mainly visual -- a store window has the Amex logo on it, and the folding chairs in the camps say Coleman. Vivienne Westwood is specifically named as the designer of a garment and as having a store (and that might be a little obscure to a lot of players). The glaring excep...

Re: In this thread we fix Lunar: Dragon Song.

Way back when I first started reading websites (meaning, when I had a connection that was faster than 2400 baud...) I read a bunch of WD's RPG Critic reviews. I will never forget that he knocked a full point off of Majora's Mask solely because it didn't have Ocarina's fishing game in it. Seriously.
