Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

I've picked up Animal Crossing again. Last fall I added another player character (I'd intended to make a new town but didn't realize I couldn't do that): Thalia. I'm thinking of making a third named Ohro. My town is named Lyton, by the way. Don't remember now why I didn't go with Saith or Lann, whic...

Re: Activism, Social Justice, Protests and you: The Political Discussion Containment Thread

Before I go on, a disclaimer: This is not a thread for talking about how much people organizing to defend their basic humanity upsets you. Or how inappropriate you think it is that people are angry and marching. Or how offended you are when the oppressed complain about being oppressed. Or about how...

Re: New futon for my nerd cave (retro video game room)

That looks like a very comfortable futon indeed. And that's a good approach, having it in the game room to double as a guest room. Seriously, though, there's ONE thread in the Almost Anything Goes board that's about politics. It's not like that's the only thread there. Please knock off the sneering ...

Re: My almost 100% complete Lunar game collection

I believe SSS on the PC was in a sizeable box also

No. The Japanese box is closer to the size of a DVD box, though a little thicker. Maybe about the thickness of a (US) SCD game box. It's plastic, btw.

Re: What changes would you love to see in another remake?

I missed this thread a year and a half ago, but that's not much time around here, so I'll throw in a couple of comments. Ghaleon and co. don’t continue to capture songstresses after discovering that Luna is the one they were searching for: Dumb plot-hole that could be easily written out of the scrip...

Re: My almost 100% complete Lunar game collection

Is there a reason you're not counting the *Japanese* PC version of SSS toward your 100%? And of course you already know that there's both the regular and LE Korean version, since you seem to be going for all boxed releases. Also, if you're going for uniqueness in packaging you should probably also h...

Re: New Lunar Fan

Also, you probably know this, but the red foil on the NA SSSC box is particularly vulnerable to fading. I was just confirming that even behind glass in a room with indirect sunlight through double-paned windows, my SSSC boxes have faded. :( The SCD boxes seem to be doing a little better, and the red...

Re: New Lunar Fan

As a fellow collector, good luck with that! I have a couple extra Japanese Lunar games, but they don't have the trading cards or obi (that's why they're extra). I have both regular and limited edition Korean PC games, but they were nontrivial to get. I bought the LE from Vic Ireland, and adopted a c...

...I know I'm right. I told you, I have the copies right here. I also have the two PDFs that have been available for years (released in 2004), and both editions of the Vheen manga. (I tend to use a bit of shorthand to refer to the items rather than their full titles in either language to keep things...

Re: A few corrections for lunar-net.com

At first I thought you'd given two pics of the original edition of Paper Moon, because the little bit with the kanji below the English word MOON is so hard to see in that pic. I have both editions and should take a side-by-side photo, but I don't know if the fact that the colors in the cover are a b...

Re: Axe Appreciation Thread.

A friend of mine was so appalled that I'd never played Golden Axe that he insisted on going to a used game store right then and buying me a Genesis cart with that and a few other games on it. I really suck at that kind of game, though, so after we played it once or twice we switched to Columns and w...

Re: A few corrections for lunar-net.com

Huh. I cannot imagine how we missed Funato's credit for those, given that it's very common knowledge. That must be a very old page of the site. And it's good to know what magazines they appeared in; I have the PDF she released with the comics, but have not been able to find out which magazines actua...

Re: The Artbooks - Updated!

In Canada the drinking age is 19. That always seems odd to me, but it's a useful reminder that to many people Ronfar wouldn't be that far off even if his age were in any way reasonable. Of course, most JRPGs have ridiculous ages for their casts anyway. This seems like the sort of thing a fan would a...

Arlia. You are free to refrain from reading threads that explicitly discuss things that don't interest you. Indeed, it's right there in the title of the thread: Political Discussion Containment Thread. That is, contained here so it doesn't spill over into the rest of the forum. Why is this difficult...

Re: Zelda BotW music topic (split from Game Sack topic)

I will say that there's one way BotW breaks from Zelda tradition that annoys me a great deal: it has voice acting. The occasional "Hey! Listen!" or "AAAAAAAAAHHHHH" in other games doesn't bother me, but I really deeply dislike having whole scenes voiced. Among other reasons, hear...

Re: Zelda BotW music topic (split from Game Sack topic)

Dragon Song is disliked mainly because of gameplay issues. If those were mitigated we could have a better idea of how it stacks up to other Lunar games. By the way, last night spouse and I finally got to the Death Mountain region of Zelda BotW and were enjoying the sparse piano version of Zelda 1's ...

Re: When do you need to take breaks from games?

My housemate and I took a three-week break from Vay when we encountered the Wind Elemental, during which we played another game through to completion. =) We did finish Vay eventually. Which reminds me that I have it on my phone and could be replaying it, if I had more hands and possibly an extra bra...

Re: Zelda BotW music topic (split from Game Sack topic)

I really, really don't think you can make any statements about Nintendo "killing Zelda" without playing it. Sure, this game is different from previous ones. So was Ocarina. So was Phantom Hourglass. It's all right for each game to not be a clone. I was a little bothered by the music in Maj...

Zelda BotW music topic (split from Game Sack topic)

Hey folks, just a quick request to not inadvertently (or, er, vertently) slip much in the way of spoilers for Zelda in. Spouse and I are still only about a quarter of the way through, despite putting many hours in. That said, if you haven't played the game, the little piano licks won't make much sen...
