Re: Lunar: SSH review @ RPGFan

Yeah, I remember you. As you said, you weren't there very long though. The midi section was bound to fail since midis were less and less popular.

Re: Lunar: SSH review @ RPGFan

Hey! Sorry if I don't remember you but since your profile doesn't have your name, I'm not sure exactly who you are. As for Nicole (Sumire), she was fired so long ago I don't even remember when (6 years ago... maybe more). RPGFan is much different than it was at the begining. The staff consists mostl...

Re: Lunar: SSH review @ RPGFan

Personally, I think a 6 isn't high enough for such a classic. I mean, even with loading times and the lack of a bunch of new stuff, this is still Lunar! When it came down to grading it, I tried to compare it with other JRPGs on portable systems (PSP and DS) and at the end of the day, no other RPG is...

Lunar: SSH review @ RPGFan

Okay, I know this sounds like self-promotion but since this is the best place for Lunar discussion, I figure I'd post it anyway. I'm not a writer at all and I hate writing formally (english is not even my native language) but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to review Lunar myself since I'm such a...

Re: Sands of Destruction review

Yeah, in terms of traditional turn-based JRPG, there hasn't been that much on consoles in recent years. I wasn't really fond of Blue Dragon but I did enjoy Lost Odyssey. It really had that classic turn-based JRPG feel. Eternal Sonata also wasn't bad but it had some issues. Now, as far as why japanes...

Re: Sands of Destruction review

I hate to say this because I've always been a diehard JRPG fan but it looks to me like the genre is dying. The only saving grace for me is that I started to give a chance to western RPGs in the last decade (starting with Knights of the Old Republic) and I've found myself becoming more and more of a ...

Re: LUNAR SSH COUNTDOWN

Hey Silver Phoenix, I mentioned earlier in this thread I'd tell you about my impressions on Sands of Destruction. Just wanted to let you know I posted something about it in the General Gaming board here in case you wanted to check it out.

Sands of Destruction review

I mentioned to Silver Phoenix that I might play Sands of Destruction on DS while waiting for Lunar to come out (since it's been delayed). I told him I'd let him know if it's any good. However, I'm not sure I'll play it now. One of our reviewer at RPGFan just reviewed the game and it's underwhelming....

Re: LUNAR SSH COUNTDOWN

BTW, nice to see you around Rudo.
Thanks! I figured with a new Lunar game coming out, this would be the best place to talk about it.

Re: Updates on Voice Actors? (English)

Wow, talk about a flashback, that's a quote from an interview I did with Vic back at E3 1998! Here's the link: http://www.rpgfan.com/features/vicinterview98/index4.html And let's not forget this nugget of a quote the year after at the E3 99 interview: "I'll say one thing about Lunar 3. It's com...

Re: LUNAR SSH COUNTDOWN

Sure thing, I'm in the process of finishing Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story right now so I'll jump on Sands after I'm done and let you know. One of my editor is working on a review of Sands of Destruction and should be done by next so I'll also post a link to the review. I wonder if it's goi...

Re: LUNAR SSH COUNTDOWN

Actually, XSEED probably got a bunch of e-mails from old school Lunar fans who played the demo and complained that it was too different from the Working Designs version (duh!) so XSEED, in an effort to appease these fans who want them to do everything like WD, decided to delay the game in a classic ...

Re: Updates on Voice Actors? (English)

I have to agree with Silver Phoenix here, as Lunar fans, we gotta be able to move past Working Designs and accept some changes. WD was great for its time but I don't think they would be good for today's market. Just the constant delays would be unacceptable nowadays especially in comparison to all t...
