Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

Decided to get Last of Us Part II so that I could make sure to play it before anyone watching the series spoils things (although I'm sure it's good I haven't watched the TV series, but I'll talk with my sister about it). I'm in the middle of it now. Overall I am enjoying it -- I never buy all the &q...

Re: Your Lunar 1 Moments

As an aside, stuff like this is why I don't mind reviving old topics, particularly with new life (I mean this is an old series with a ton of remakes...) I'm a sucker for emotional beats, so what gets me most is TSS: Going up the path to Luna at the end, having to play the harp SSS: When Luna last-mi...

Re: Lunar reference

Oh I just haven't played Tales of Arise (or most of the Tales series actually). I have played Tales of Phantasia, several versions in fact (Super Famicom, PS1, and the PSP version with the crossover with Narikiri Dungeon). It's one of my favorite games up there alongside Lunar! I tried playing Tales...

Re: The Statues/Pictures in the Sanctuary

Absolutely wild side note on the statue design that I’d never noticed after nearly two decades: EB (and SSS) world/visual designer Satou’s comment notes the cloth-covered disc behind Althena, also part of the engraving; no one has ever seen underneath, but it’s said to be the figure of Zophar! Oh n...

Re: Lunar reference

Haven't played Tales, but is it really overt like a direct reference, or more like an homage where it's a very similar layout and feel?

Re: Last Anime?

Tried watching the first episode of Chainsaw Man. I think I see why people like it but it didn't stand out more than other things like, maybe, early episodes of Bleach or Gantz. Not really my thing.

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

I finally finished FFX2 (I got caught for non-game reasons, I didn't have much time free to play consistently, so I'd just spend 20-30min here or there levelling up while I had a break, but it wasn't enough time to proceed to a place to progress the story). Really enjoyed that. I'll go back and play...

Re: Speedrun Bounty Announcement - I will be funding a bounty for Lunar 2 SCD's Speedrun World Record!

I vaguely remember from Wind Waker speedruns that most in the speedrunning community consider selection of version to be part of the challenge (iirc, the Italian version of Wind Waker is optimal for this.... or maybe that's just from remembering "Pausa... Pausa... Pausa..." over and over w...

Oh neat y'all also linked to the YouTube videos in the notes. Thanks; this will be interesting to watch! I don't think I'd try to ever go for a record myself, even for something like an RPG that might not need the kind of pixel-/frame-perfect precision that like platformers might need, but it would ...

Re: Decompiling Lunar 2 for PS1

Which means we should finally be able to find the Dark Scimitar for real this time. I can tell you its Item #90 (0x5A) I've located the file containing chest information on Saturn (of course it wont be found there though since thats a jp release), haven't tried to figure out the equivalent file on ...

Hey a request, just for convenience, could you link where the top times/routes are posted?

I actually don't know the best place to go for them, I just know (from watching YouTube/Twitch streamers) that something like that exists because I see people bringing it up a lot.

Thanks!

Re: Screensaver

There is a common trend now of people selling games to themselves at high prices to jack up the expected price on other auction sites. (Note: If the video game resale market were regulated like more high-profile collectibles, this would actually be considered illegal as it's equivalent to wash tradi...

Re: Playing through JP Eternal Blue: Things to Know?

So I fought the same enemy you're describing in Illusion Woods, the one that summons copies of itself ad nauseam. After defeating about ten of them and there still being three, I used Chance Dice and Ronfar rolled a 12. He immediately KOed himself and Lucia, leaving Hiro to (narrowly) finish the fi...

See more proof that everyone used magic to survive going up to Zulan. That's easier to manage than, like, sprites changing costumes everywhere.

Apologies if you've already answered (I haven't had time to check the 2:40 video), but do these speedruns require anything like glitch exploitation or major skips? Curious also if there are differences involved in localization that are used to do any exploits (basically like how the Lemina Bug is on...

Re: Decompiling Lunar 2 for PS1

Another thing decompiling can do is make it a lot clearer things that were originally removed, hidden, or otherwise obscured in the game. Certain stat behavior, character/enemy behavior, items or spells, etc..

Which means we should finally be able to find the Dark Scimitar for real this time.

Re: Last Anime?

Finished Gate. Really would've been nice for another season or two, but it ended at a satisfying point instead of having too many loose threads. The... pro-military/pro-JDSF propaganda part got a bit more bothersome when they introduced a two-bit journalist character for like half an episode, but th...

Huh well, I guess it's fortunate that PS3 was basically the generation I skipped on entirely (well PS2 too, technically, didn't have one until me and Jenner moved in together), since I have a dozen ways to play PS1 games already.

Re: Last Anime?

For the first time in ages I'm starting to watch a new (for me) anime series: Gate. I'm actually really enjoying it. What hooked me was the premise "what would happen if a fantasy army tried to go against a modern military... exactly what you'd expect", and going beyond the obvious militar...
