Re: Lunar 2: something got lost from Lunar 1?

I actually remember reading a lot of reviews for Eternal Blue when it was "new," and I remember similar sentiments being felt across most of the reviews of the title. I'm going to try to word my feelings very carefully between the two. I don't think necessarily something was inadvertently ...

Re: Finally, after literally 15 years of looking...

Yeah WD did have Rayearth listed on their page as still being available for quite some time after 1998. It later struck me as being somewhat odd, since I've read from conflicting sources rather different production runs of the game, which are always seemingly low no matter the source. I did never se...

Re: Finally, after literally 15 years of looking...

Very nice. I bought Magic Knight Rayearth new back in 1998. I was actually a big Rayearth fan before that. I found out about Rayearth through a very random web ring that I believe I found through the Anime Web TurnPike (Anipike.com) back when it was one of the places to go for anime and manga. I the...

Re: What if I told you...

It was likely different in the remakes simply because it's a remake. Kind of like how manga and anime endings are often very different from one another. You do or have done one thing with one medium, then when presented with another medium you go a different route. A similar situation can be seen ac...

Re: Is Popful Mail (Sega CD) overrated?

I might be "preaching to the choir" a bit, but I'm going to say it anyway; I feel this game simply suffers from "Working Designs Hype." Plain and simple. When Popful Mail came out people paid a good bit of notice to it. It was being published by Workings Designs, then even then w...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

I recently got Secret of Mana on the SNES around the holidays. It's been years since I've played it on a legit console (played it some on an emulator) and it's one of my favorite 16-bit titles. I beat it this week again. Moving on to some more SNES nostalgia.

Re: Lunar was released in the USA 20 years ago as of this mo

I was 10 when Silver Star came out. The crazy thing was how cheap I scored Silver Star for, considering it was still relatively new (-ish). I didn't get a Sega CD until some time after the second version model was produced. A local video rental store that popped up fairly quick, just as quick went u...

Nope.

And thanks for pointing that out. I should have considered that there are potentially people who have not beat the Sega CD Eternal Blue, so I have edited my post.

Eternal Blue strategy guide from a GamePro scans

** **Spoiler alert below for those of you who have not beat the Sega CD Eternal Blue** ** I saw some time back someone in a random LUNAR related thread here made a post about how they remembered that a GamePro issue in the mid-90s had a mini-guide for beating the Sega CD Eternal Blue. Unfortunately ...

Re: A Lunar Visual Novel

When I played my very first visual novel back in early 1997 - Season of the Sakura published by JAST - I always thought at that time the LUNAR series would be interesting in some sort of visual novel form as there's a good handful of stories that can be told. Now that there's so many visual novel ga...

Re: Retro Gaming + LUNAR® Eternal Blue/Sega CD Ram Cart

I'll give you a piece of advice since you're still early in the game - and hopefully give it to you without revealing spoilers. When you get later in the game to the point where you have to perform a quest line relating to the Black Dragon, whatever you do, LEVEL UP AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!! Level up, l...

Re: Tactics For Nearing Endgame

Like I said it's been quite some time since I've played TSS - last full play through was back around 1996 and I've only played through it twice - so I've probably forgotten specifics of the items I used or had by the end. However I got to say it sounds like if you struggled like that you must not ha...

Re: Tactics For Nearing Endgame

It's been quite some years since I've played TSS on my SEGA CD, but I can tell you by the end of the game it is not difficult. It also sounds like you're right near the end of the game. You shouldn't be worried about equipping your characters with the "best" or particular equipment. The &q...

Re: My new inserts for my Sega CD Lunar games

I do agree with the rather bland Eternal Blue artwork - as said though it's a heck of a lot better than a no-label jewel case. I might eventually try making my own inserts to change it a bit. I haven't thought about doing any of the other games at the moment. The same author of these inserts also di...

My new inserts for my Sega CD Lunar games

I recently did some touching up of my Sega CD copies of Lunar Silver Star and Lunar Eternal Blue and thought I would share some of the pics. This is actually something I've had on the back burner for a VERY long time. Unfortunately, unlike all the other Lunar games I have (which is every one of them...

I think I stumbled upon a small bug...

Well... not necessarilly an important one, but it was a little weird when it happened. I recently started the game again so that I can get all the stuff I missed last time through (kinda rushed it a bit) and I got to the point where you fight the Trouble Truffler in the Vane Cave of Trial. Right at ...

Modded PS2s

If you have a slimline PS2 (the newer slim one), then you can play imports easily without a mod chip. Just look up Swap Magic 3.X. What it is is this modified door that allows you to open the PS2 without hitting the button to open the case. Everytime you hit this button the PS2 reads what disk is cu...
