Is there any reason to assume that the giggle den doesn't have similar content in the Japanese original? I don't remember it being missing from when I played, but that was a few years ago.

By the way, I'm not saying that bigotry against homosexuals isn't real. I mean, I think race is a fictitious concept, but racism is still real (and a real problem). Bigotry against homosexuals is similar in certain regards; it just requires more effort to create an identity centered about who you'r...

Um, Jenner, you have it backward. He was Deadly Mel in TSS and Hell Mel in SSSC.

Yeah, Vay did the same. I remember my roommate grumbling because we forgot to unequip one person before triggering her departure.

I concur with Kiz's reasoning, but without proof or at least a very strong indication that this was in fact an early build screenshot I'd be inclined to say it's a fangame. Alex's sprite looks familiar, but the NPC to the side seems different in proportion to me, and so it seems likely that it's a f...

Link's Awakening has some of my favorite Zelda pieces. Not only the Ballad of the Wind Fish -- which I was fortunate enough to hear for the first time on the Hyrule Symphony soundtrack, before I got the game -- but several cute remixes of the main Zelda theme, my favorite of which is on the mountain...

Eh, I still rather like it. There are some nice sketches of the characters at the beginning (including one or two of Dyne, pre-Dragonmaster), and a scan of a piece of sheet music of the opening song. Possibly some interviews or at least commentary too; I don't have it with me so I can't check.

Yes, well, fanfic isn't exactly the greatest source of information. As I understand, many of the Shrine's story have a collective consistency, but that framework isn't necessarily from the official materials. And the manga Childhood's End (written by Shigema) would contradict that, as the protagonis...

THIS PLACE IS KNOWN AS A TRANSMISSION SPRING, BUT IT HASN'T BEEN USED IN OVER 10 YEARS! NO ONE 'ROUND HERE KNOWS HOW TO OPERATE THIS SPRING ANYMORE..., SO LEAVE ME ALONE! --- I WAS WONDERING WHY YOU MADE THIS SPRING ACTIVE! YOU DO KNOW THAT IT LEADS TO THE FRONTIER? WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO GO TO THAT ...

Anyway, these have been sort of covered, but the worst change they made by far was to the Frontier. Before, the Frontier was an immense desert--and the first town you came to was Cadin, full of humans. It goes to show you how bad Althena really is, trapping innocent humans and beastmen in the middl...

No, I don't think that's quite true. In Biblical times one could sell oneself into slavery in order to pay off a debt, I think, and it was for a fixed period of time. They also had rights and protection under the law, unlike slaves in the US. Argh, why must my posts always fall right after page brea...

Well, there are emulators which work pretty well with it now, so all you need to get is the game disc. TSS isn't that expensive on eBay, or wasn't last I checked.

I think it's just armor that someone incised a dragon on or similar, since dragons are sort of the mascots of Lunar. The item descriptions didn't mention dragonmasters. Everyone knows that there are no more dragonmasters, and in SSSC at least it was clear that Alex's armor ceased to exist, so I thin...

Yeah, Nash as a character actually grew quite nicely in TSS, from being a pompous twit at the beginning to fairly likeable at the end. There are a host of minor differences too. The Vile Tribe are all monsters, and except for some trash talking you never interact with any of them. The village of Bur...

Well, I don't think it's so much thinking of something by accident as it is dwelling on it and ultimately seeking it out (as looking at porn would be). I think this is discussed in the Biblical account of David when he saw Bathsheba, that he kept looking and letting desire grow in his heart, which l...

What I meant by only Nintendo games was only first-party games. Not sure if that was speculation or whether it was actually confirmed, though.

Ah, prescriptive vs descriptive...by inclination I'm the former (always wanting to say what people should be saying and aren't, shouldn't surprise anyone here) but by education I'm the latter, as pretty much all linguists are. You have to describe and analyze what's actually used, not what you think...

Source? Proof? I don't recall anything about Revolution supporting "all downloaded games from the net", just that there would be the possibility of downloading Nintendo games, probably for a fee (I think Iwata said that it wouldn't be free). That hardly sounds like "all the games from the net". And ...
