Re: Pokemon GO!

As someone who still plays on the walking part of my commute* and on weekend walks, the appeal to me has always been two-fold. 1. It's something to do when I'm walking that I don't feel like doing anything else. It's low-focus so I can still think about other things; all I need to do is walk with my...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

^ That's a coincidence. I started Child of Light too. I didn't realize the music had any technical flaws (why would I?), but I can say I don't really remember the battle music. I do like the rhyming being a rule of sorts for the world, as well as the fairy-tale logic of the plot.

Re: Long-time Lunarer, first-time posterer

can I still call them playthroughs when I keep not finishing them? Playintos? "Let's play" seems to get around the principal issue, even if I don't like verbs in my noun phrase. It does make it harder to just pick up and play stuff, though, because I feel irresponsible if I don't note thi...

Re: Pokemon GO!

^ I've noticed that too. I've been playing. Similar to Kizyr, I have several stops and gyms within easy walking distance, and I can catch a few Pokemon from my apartment. I usually reserve playing for when I go on walks. So far, I've mostly only messed with recruiting Pokemon and upgrading them - no...

Re: Ys?

For a long time Ys was a series that I had heard of but had never played. I finally got a chance when The Ark of Napishtim (Ys VI) was released on the PS2. That was a very intriguing action-RPG. I liked being able to switch between three elemental swords. There were enough puzzles to whet the appeti...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

^ That is true; I've seen a couple of war memorials transformed into gyms. On a more positive note, a lot of churches have ended up being gyms and stops, something that many churches have acknowledged with water stations and inviting people inside. That's pretty cool. I want to finish my stalled pla...

Re: Long-time Lunarer, first-time posterer

Asimov is my favorite of the "big three" sci-fi writers (him, Clarke, and Heinlein). Foundation features some of his early work, which as noted is far less open to gender variation - he gets better about gender as the series goes along. I will say, if you want to read some late Asimov and ...

Re: Greetings

Welcome to the board! I like a lot about Lunar 2 as well, even though I've replayed it a lot less due to the length and the lack of re-releases after EBC. I think SSSC being my first Lunar game, combined with the many number of times I've replayed it in various forms, has made it my favorite, even i...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

I've been playing Pokemon Go. I've been doing a lot of walks to clear my mind and get some exercise. When the servers have been working, it's been an engaging game. It taps directly into my loves of spatial exploration (finding new places in the surrounding town) and collection (finding new Pokemon)...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

I loved SSH until I hit a major glitch in Lyton. I lost momentum once my game kept freezing. I played Overwatch some. I only played one online multiplayer shooter, and that's the cartoony and relatively light TF2. I am wary of realistic shooters - ironsights and gore aren't my thing. I want to play ...

Re: New Home

Congratulations! It looks just a bit like the house I grew up in. And my partner would be all over that front porch. A good porch is practically a requirement for her. -When touring a home, it's considered a major faux pas to refer to the "room" you are in. Instead always refer to it as a ...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

I found Valkyrie Chronicles rather difficult for that reason. It prioritizes time rather than performance stats or completion. Maybe I just want to play with Aika and Vyse! In addition to the games above, I've been replaying Oblivion a bit. I've also picked up an odd game called Town of Salem. It's ...

Re: Long-time Lunarer, first-time posterer

Welcome to the board! I'll have to check out Ann Leckie.

I got into Lunar at about the same time you did. I somehow never ran across the demo disc, but I did love the magazine ads, and managed to snag a copy from Christmas. One of the best gifts I ever got - I hope I can give just as well someday.

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

It's a slime hutch. I use it to grow and breed slimes. I'm taking a break from the game while I wait for the next update and while I play a lot of Stellaris, a space-based 4X game from Paradox. Before I stopped, I gussied up the farm, laying down path, putting a fence line to regulate when animals c...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

I love Trails in the Sky. Someday I want to return to it and its sequel. Still playing Stardew Valley. By the middle of year two it turns mainly into a sandbox. I've got enough gold, so now I'm collecting materials while I figure out what I want my farm to look like overall. Here's an image: http://...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

The nice thing about fishing in Stardew Valley is that as you get better, you level up in fishing, and you get upgrades that make the fishing easier. I've found it scales quite nicely with my ability. Still playing it. I've gotten to winter (end of year 1). I've gotten a little over half of the bund...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

Stardew Valley. It's very familiar for lovers of Harvest Moon. You farm. You raise animals. You talk to villagers. You mine and fish. You also fight slimes and the relentless beat of consumerism. I like it as much, if not more, than earlier Harvest Moon games. Certainly it's up there with early ones...

Re: What Are You Currently Playing?

With what time I've had, I've been playing Xenoblade Chronicles X for the past month. I'm only halfway through the story, but it's the sort of game that has hours upon hours of sidequests, NPCs to talk to, and places to explore. If it's like the prior game in the series, I will leave it aside a few ...
