Geeze, these accidental predictions sometimes spook me...

Anyway, as many of you probably know, I've been a hardcore Lunar fan since the first game came out on Sega CD (I first played in on December 25, 1993, so this past Christmas was the 17th anniversary of me playing Lunar). Back in the 90's, I had written a couple of Lunar fanfics and even ran a few online Lunar fan RPGs. The thing that spooks me is that some of the concepts I came up with for those old stories are cropping up in newer Lunar games...

First, there was my original fanfic, basically the story of how Dragonmaster Lou became a Dragonmaster. Yeah, it was a bit Mary Sue-ish, I admit, but I justified it because it was based on an actual dream I had where I was visited by the Blue Dragon and asked to become a Dragonmaster. Anyway, the details are unimportant, except that the Lunar: EB remake mentioned a "Dragonmaster Louie" as the first Dragonmaster. Probably a coincidence (or a nod to my early days in Lunar fandom on the days when my ego's getting really big), but nothing too weird there...

However, the fanfic and the IRC RPGs also introduced the concept of the Dragonmaster gone bad (which I referred to as a "Demonmaster") and the idea that a Dragonmaster has to shut him down. Lo and behold, what are Ignatius's and Jian's roles in the game-that-must-not-be-named?

Finally, the fanfic also introduced a new ultimate Dragon spell called "Dragon Blade," which I've also used in my IRC RPGs. Now, what is the name of the Dragonmaster Arts Gauge attack in SSH? It's "4-Dragon Blade." Even the special effects resembled my description very closely, although the they did embellish them somewhat...

Again, these are probably all coincidences, but it is kinda freaky at times...

Those are some odd similarities... Looks like you and whoever makes the Lunar games just have the same kind of minds.

Quite possible... It certainly would help explain why I have so much love for the series...

Dragonmaster Louie is actually mentioned in the original Japanese EB. Yes, named Louie, despite Hasukawa's interview saying that the first Dragonmaster was named Neil, whose arm was so strong. I always wonder if that switch was accidental or intentional.

The reference is in a book in the Vane library, which became a book about killing Barney in the WD version. See Kizyr's list of changes: http://lunar-net.com/eb/eb_diff.php

I've always suspected that the whole "Dragonmaster Louie" thing was a case of confusion between Neil Armstrong, the astronaut, and Louie Armstrong, the jazz musician...

^ Same. Admittedly, when I first heard it, I made the same confusion. "Oh, the first man on the moon!"

It's a fancy series of coincidences though. Your story idea isn't that uncommon on its own, but it's funny that they went with that one, and that you wrote it so long ago!

Exactly! I mean, I never considered any of my stories great works of prose... but it is amusing to see my ideas cropping up in the very games that inspired them. :)
