Lunar & Grandia on Steam SOON!!

Grandia and Lunar are probably coming to Steam

Database entries have popped up

At this rate, we might be better off with a database of games that aren't headed to Steam.

Listings for Grandia and Lunar have come through SteamDB, so it would seem PC ports of these classic role-playing games are happening as hoped. Earlier this year, GungHo Online America straight up asked fans which Game Arts titles it should release on PC. Grandia II is already covered.

The rep running the company's Twitter account acknowledged the SteamDB info, saying, "I have read this Tweet!" So instead of bugging them about that, maybe pester them with your favorite reverse gif.

This is exciting to hear, even if I don't use Steam. ^_^
Hopefully they'll do well on it!

 I heard about this!
Was gonna post about it, but it seems Mr. Josafat beat me to it.

It's likely to be one of the following:

1. Lunar - Silver Star Story Touch, the iPhone game, ported back to PC.
2. Lunar - Silver Star Story, the Japanese PC game from the Windows 98 days, revived for modern PCs.
3. Lunar - Silver Star Harmony, the PSP game, adjusted for PCs (and likely without load times!)

I can't see them doing anything else but this, and I'll happily buy it whatever it is!
However, the fans are very negative especially outside these forums, if it's not Lunar 3, you will hear endless complaints.
I'll either have to put on my gloves and fite them online, or probably hide from the Lunar side of the internets until it's out
since I have no time for that negativity in my life. ^___^

Yes Josafat, I'm looking at you, you didn't like the iPhone port of Lunar SSS, so there are chances you won't like this either, but let's hope it's good.

I REALLY want it to be the SEGA CD version of L1, with original voices, and Mac OSX support. The Mac part in particular I sadly doubt, but one can dream. SEGA CD edition of L1 was on the survey mentioned (and the the PSP cast had a completely different script), so it is possible...not likely but possible.

Maybe multiple Lunar versions/games will be up? That way, everyone could get what they want. Even if this is only one hidden Lunar game now, that wouldn't necessarily stop GungHo/GameArts from releasing more in the future.

Hope it happens! I need more games in my Steam library and Lunar would be a welcome edition! Hope the same treatment would eventually happen for Lunar 2 as well.

Too bad my last PC bit the dust (I'm using a Mac btw), otherwise I'd definitely buy these for PC. Glad to see that Lunar's still being made available in some form!

Well, I've got a simple declaration.

When they do this, I'll play it.

I won't have to obtain a PSP to play it. I won't have to boot up my PS2 to play the PS version. I won't have to emulate the Sega CD version.

I'll play it and get my Steam friends to ask me what this Lunar thing is all about.

"Than seyde Merlion, "Whethir lyke ye bettir the swerde othir the scawberde?" "I lyke bettir the swerde," seyde Arthure. "Ye ar the more unwyse, for the scawberde ys worth ten of the swerde; for whyles ye have the scawberde uppon you, ye shall lose no blood, be ye never so sore wounded. Therefore kepe well the scawberde allweyes with you." --- Le Morte Darthur, Sir Thomas Malory

"Just as you touch the energy of every life form you meet, so, too, will will their energy strengthen you. Fail to live up to your potential, and you will never win. " --- The Old Man at the End of Time

I seriously can't wait for Lunar Genesis / Dragon Song again!
Nothing says satisfying like hitting the enemy so hard you break your weapon on their head :D
Nothing says adventure like getting exhausted from running and passing out.

When I was trying to get to sleep last night, I lulled myself by thinking of how I would improve that game while keeping as much the same as possible.

I actually rather like Lunar Legend. Its only real problems to my mind are that it's too easy and (in the NA version) both needed some more text editing and had some strange bugs. Oh, and the music quality. But it's so very cute!

Lunar Legend is a gift from heavens :D
At least for someone like me who at the time had lost access to the PS discs for like 2 years.
It was just too much mind blowing that a Lunar game would be on a Nintendo system, and portable, AND be nearly the same thing as a game that would take 2 discs.
And yes, it's very cute! They were brave to make larger battle sprites than the console version, when it's a portable game, and they animate nicer/cooler than the PSP version, but the PS is still best.

Oh the music quality? Have you played Pokémon FireRed / LeafGreen?
That music is boss at master chef butchering. It insults the GameBoy Pokémon music, while Lunar Legend sort of compliments the PS game with what little it does! I agree it could still be a lot better though. The GBA is kind of poor in sound compared to every other console ever, so it's justified.

...I'll keep an eye on this. I'll actually buy it if it comes out, but likewise I'm curious as to which game and version they'll port over.

...though it'll probably just be SSS again. KF
