10th Anniversary of LunarNET...

Post by GhaleonOne »

Some of you may know that at the end of the year, LunarNET will turn 10 years old. I've been wanting to do something with the site to mark this event, and I've decided I want to get LunarNET back into mainstream gaming. Instead of a Lunar-only site, I'm going back to a full fledged RPG site. That is how LunarNET started out, after all. I've also decided to harken back to an old school design format for what will be the new look of the site. You can check it out here:

http://www.lunar-net.com/history/2ndanniversary/

That was the first major redesign that the went through, and since it was always my favorite of the designs for the site, I'm going back to that, with a small bit of improved formatting.

Just wanted to give a heads up. Most of the Lunar content will still be around, but in a "Lunar Special" format, like it was in the old day. (a Lunar mega-section for the site)

Wow, all I have to say is that looks awesome! The graphics are incredible, and the mega section is sure to be awesome. Why, I bet when you are done you'll rival gamesarefun and IGN!

I'm going to miss the OMG best Lunar site ever! effect LunarNET had on me all this time, but taking it back to mainstream gaming and on greater heights would be awesome. Go for it, G1, and keep up the great job! 8)

Ugh, I don't know. You want to take the site back to something that looks really amateur? Unless the link I clicked on took me back to an alternate universe I don't think that's the direction you want to traverse for an entire site using the LunarNet motif. Wouldn't you essentially be recreating RPGFan?

Now that all this crap is off the boards, I can say that this was my April Fools Joke. Kinda got lost in the mess today. Obviously that design was sheer garbage compared to today's standards. And no, the site will not be leaving Lunar-only. However, since the joke is done, I also planned to show you a beta of the REAL new design... here...

However, I have decided to redesign that as well. :P Keep in mind, I'm revamping this a lot as well, and by the time I'm done, things will be quite different (the left navigation will stay similar, but that's about it). I'm going to incorporate a lot of new technologies I've learned over the past year. No idea on the release date of the new site, but it'll be by the 10th anniversary, and probably sooner. And will have a LOT more content than is currently on LunarNET.

Could you give menu items 'alt' text? It'd make navigation much easier in some circumstances.
(Looks neat.)

Well... that'll all be Flash when I'm done. :P Though I know what you mean. I do plan to use alt tags far more often than I used to.

I'm not actually sure if it's the 24th or the 25th. It was probably the 25th. Really early in the morning. I stayed up late to get the site online that night. I only remember it was that specific Christmas Eve because Coley stayed up with me on AIM for practically the entire night that night.

Didn't that become a yearly tradition between you two?

Yeah. For quite some time. Every Christmas Eve she would confess her undying love to me. Weird, but it was tradition. :P
