A bit on the small side, but I suppose it's only a matter of time.

Just wow.

If it's a girlfriend of any sort then i'm sure it can tolerate fluids.

I'm not even ready to talk to an answering machine. I'm sure not ready for a robot girlfriend.

That was suspiciously too easy a set-up. KF

You know B_G would have said something of the sort whether there was a set-up or not.

"She's very lovable and though she's not a human, she can act like a real girlfriend."

Does that mean she'll get jealous if you buy another one?

I read that upon hitting the 'net button. I bought 10. I suspect that no amount of warranty will help them now... mua hahahahahaha.

Am I the only person who finds this extraordinarily lame? Pathetic? The ownership of one proving a person needs either therapy or a punch in the nose?

Heh, I'm gonna guess you don't suffer the full effects of loneliness?

It's a really fancy test in robotics and artificial intelligence. Kind of like the RoboSapien toys, but on a more advanced scale.

Given that, it'd probably be fun to play with for a while, see how good the programming and everything on it is.

Usually, news articles like this are intended to elicit a "OMG look at the funny [Japanese/Chinese/Indians] and what they do!" So it's probably dropping a lot of details. KF

LMAO

Innuendo (sp?) aside, might as well just put down my 2 cents.

Wow why am I not surprised that they made something like that?

But , I don't see how a hoagie sized robot that thinks it's your girlfriend will help lonely guys. I mean sure, it goes up right next to your face and 'smooches' it, but that doesnt' really seem like that would help a loney guy. Maybe I'm mistaken, but getting an actual girlfriend is probably the better cure for loneliness than a 15 Inch AI. Well maybe a couple hundred years in the future a robot girlfriend could help a lonely man but not so much in this day and age.

I mean it would be interesting to see how it works but I don't want to spend that much money for one... that's way too pricey. O_o

And also, sure I'm single and never had a girlfriend, but I'd never resort to buying a 15 inch robot and call it my girlfriend, that's like below desperate.

Sounds like Teddy Ruxpin for grownups.

Gotta love this: "Strong, tough and battle-ready are some of the words often associated with robots, but we wanted to break that stereotype and provide a robot that's sweet and interactive." Yes, we wouldn't want a pretend girlfriend to be strong, because that's just unfeminine.

So this is basically Simomo (sp?) from Chobits but a little bit bigger? If it prevents some train-hugging and kitchen chemical huffing, i'm not against its existence.

Did you word it this way to see if i'd say something? Seriously, though. AI has major leaps and bounds to make. So far it just seems like the thing that makes bad guys harder to kill. Credible emotions are the next big thing.

By all means, remark further on my predictability.

Strong (in terms of force) isn't something that's often associated with feminine qualities. A woman can have these qualities, but that won't make them feminine qualities. A man is able to join cheerleading, but doesn't mean that cheerleading is masculine. C'mon, Alun...you gotta pick your battles or you'll look like a zealot.

No offense, but the day i see this become credible while i'm ALIVE is the day i see a Mobile Suit walk down the street in my hometown.
