Yeah, that's pretty much all I got this year.

I find this April Fools thread to be shallow and pedantic.

Did you guys hear that Atari announced a new console? The Atari 9600! It's got amazing graphics. It can display 32 colors on the screen at once out of a palette of 256, a full 9 and a half sprites simultaneously, and, get this, two tiled, scrolling background planes! And the sound is amazing. Quoth Nolan Bushnell, "Our new SUPERPOKEY chip can play a full range of beeps AND bloops."

I haven't even gotten to the cool stuff yet. The paddles feature incredibly sensitive, truly analogue non-selfcentering joysticks. And a whopping 40 buttons! Quoth Nolan Bushnell again, "We at Atari realize the main problem with the Jaguar was that the controller was just not big enough. It had, what 16 or 17 buttons? That's just not enough for every conceivable situation in a next generation game."

Game media is ultra-reliable next-gen VCR tapes, so much more capacity than those old cassette tapes! Announced launch games include YAPT (Yet Another Psychedelic Tempestoid) and Asteroids X: This Time They're Bigger.

Atari is making a mistake using those next gen VCR tapes. Betamax is clearly the true winner here, why not use those?
