Baby name

Post by CatsWithMatches »

So, it occurred to me that people here might be interested in what my wife and I are probably going to name our little girl.

Nothing's final of course, yet, but the name at the top of the list is *drumroll*

Lucia - Pronounced "lu-see-ah", not "lu-she-ah" as in the game. (and Luci for short).

I doubt she'll have blue hair, though.

I like that variation of Lucia better, as far as a real person's name goes. Congrats!

Are you picking any middle names? I understand if you're reluctant to say what here for identity purposes.

Lately I've been toying with the idea of giving my still hypothetical daughter or son a name from romance. Options I encountered today include Tryamour (boy or girl), Organate (girl), Marsabelle (girl), Adventurous (boy), Isumbras (boy), or Heurodis (girl). Now, some of these are undoubtedly silly to use in a modern context and probably sound horrible, but occasionally gems come up. I could definitely imagine going back to video games to pick a name.

Good name! I have liked that name for a very long time. I liked it before I first played Lunar 2...I think...?

I'm now a touch disturbed that I can't say so for certain. 0_o

Wow. Were these names reasonably common once?

Aww! Congratulations! :D
Lucia Mae is a lovely name. Sometimes I think about names I'd like to give to a future child. I've found that I'm partial to names starting with "K". D:

Congrats! I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit jealous! That would be a pretty name!

I've made up my mind years ago on the four names I would name my daughter: Lyra, Laura, Sarah, and Phalina

Some romance names were. Think Arthurian names and you'll get a lot of common ones - Arthur, Lancelot, Gareth, Gwen, and the like. They were the most widely distributed romances, so that's to be expected

For these names, besides being less wide-spread... they were never used much, sometimes because they were clearly names that served a purpose in the story but were slightly "name-y." Tryamour is trust-love. Adventurous would be the equivalent of calling a child "Danger," except that sort of thing didn't get done. Others were probably used a little more, but were widely variable - Heurodis is actually a variant of Eurydice, like Orfeo is to Orpheus. Marsabelle and Isumbras were perhaps used at least a little bit. Organate I have no clue on, except to say that a Google search of the term turns up a lot of requests that use it to mean "originate," and to point out that Leia's last name is Leia Organa, which is a cute coincidence.

Anyway, sorry to write a lot in answer. ^^;;;

Our first child: Kelsey Lynn
Second: Mia Noele
We're expecting our third kid, but aren't sure of the sex.

Girl: Kaya (pronounced like Maya with a K--it's a common enough name here in Japan)
Boy: Dylan MacKay (grandma's maiden name)

I'm surprised I got away with naming a kid after a LUNAR character (which my wife didn't find out until recently).

[EDIT: Do I really only have 40 comments here? Oh well, at least my account isn't constantly deleted due to inactivity, like it is at the RPGFan boards (which I almost never read--that place has become completely unrecognizable to me)]
