I have no clue. My tastes might change, others might not find it appropriate, and so on.

But I'll tell you what I like the idea of. It's from this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Next_P ... G_episode)

"In Ten-Forward, the memorial Data has arranged is much more like a party than a funeral. Data asks Dr. Crusher what she thinks, and she is pleased that everyone is happily sharing their memories of the lost officers."

You'd have to see it to get the full effect. But that's what I'd want. As for music... well, if I did have to pick a song, it'd be maybe May It Be, or something similar from Enya.

"May it be an evening star
Shines down upon you
May it be when darkness falls
Your heart will be true
You walk a lonely road
Oh! How are you are from home

Mornie utulie (darkness has come)
Believe and you will find your way
Mornie alantie (darkness has fallen)
A promise lives within you now

May it be shadows call
Will fly away
May it be your journey on
To light the day
When the night is overcome
You may rise to find the sun

Mornie utulie (darkness has come)
Believe and you will find your way
Mornie alantie (darkness has fallen)
A promise lives within you now

A promise lives within you now"

Though with a certain twist of humor I like Exquisite Dead Guy from They Might Be Giants.

"Exquisite dead guy
Rotating in his display case
Exquisite dead guy
Swear I saw his mouth move

Exquisite dead guy
Outside my high rise apartment
Exquisite dead guy
Hanging from a skyhook

How am I supposed to let you know the way I feel
About you

How am I supposed to let you know the way I feel
About you "

I have no clue. I've never thought about it before, actually. @_@ Umm, off the top of my head, Jewel's "Angel Standing By" would be kind of neat I guess lol.

All through the night I'll be watching over you
And all through the night I'll be standing over you
And through bad dreams I'll be right there baby
telling you everything's going to be alright
When you cry I'll be there baby
telling you were never nothing less than beautiful
So don't you worry
I'm you Angel standing by

Hmm, I actually want Mitch Hedberg's "Mitch All Together" playing, I always figured it would be a good way to add some levity and joy to a situation that needs it.

My God he was brilliant.
They said that on Saturday evening Arsenius used to turn his back to the setting sun and stretch out his hands towards heaven and pray until, at dawn on Sunday, the rising sun lit up his face, and then he sat down again.

Airships, by VNV Nation for me.

I stepped into a new world watching you fly
saw you as a friend, the spirit of dreams
I imagined a new world, lands far away
imagined those faces as you hung in their sky

I'm leaving ground, stepping into a new world
now I'm leaving home, leaving everything that I have ever known
I step into this new world

leaving everything

I've seen that episode several times. I love Star Trek =O.

Back to the post, well, I dunno. I really don't want to sound like a theif, but I LOVE this song, and I have considered it being one of the songs played at mine.

LotR: RotK: Into the West (Oh God, I hope no one gets mad at me for this.)

There are others, but I haven't really picked a good one. Another song though, is In The End by Linkin Park, which is my favorite song currently.

Trust me, I've probably given this more thought than most people here, as death seems to like to loom over my head constantly.

Dude, I used LOTR too. And actually considered this song. I just picked Enya because she has more personal relevance to my life, but I like that choice too.

You could make it the background noise of the universe!

I've always been a fan of 4'33". Epic musical writing.

Well, static noise is the background noise of the universe, is it not?

Maybe I'll have visuals as well. KF

Nothing. I say no to the idea of ruining good songs for loved ones. Remember when you were younger and depressed over relationship issues and there were certain songs you couldn't listen to for quite some time? yeah. same concept.

Well, I wouldn't expect someone get mad over LotR music, but I meant the song I picked because if memory serves me right, it was already used.

I know what you mean. I had a relationship that ended badly and there is a cd and a few songs that remind me of her, it is painfull to listen to them sometimes, sadly they are like some of my fav songs :P And after my Grandma died I couldn't listen to a few songs without breaking down, I still get emotional with the songs, but not as much.

Green Day- Time of Your Life, because that's the song that always gets played at funerals and I know it'll irritate the hell out of my friends and family.

Post-mortem trolling.
