My Play is Finally Opening!!!
Hey everyone,
The play I wrote, Acrobat (for those who remember this far back), is finally being produced and performed at a local theater here in Omaha. I directed, as well. And everything's coming together amazingly! We open next Thursday.
For those who knew her, the play is kind of a dedication project to Coley's memory. Our theatre group co-producing it Reannin Theatre Group (Reannin being Nicole's middle name).
They haven't posted any pics yet, but they probably will in the next couple weeks. The theatre's website is http://www.shelterbelt.org, if anyone wants to take a look.

Great! I know you've been working on it for a while, and I look forward to the photos. I just wish I could see it in person.

Re: My Play is Finally Opening!!!
That doesn't prevent me from writing a review.
"Acrobat is an Acronym for Awesome!" (Actors Collaboratively Rail in Outstandingly Brilliant Awesome Treatment)
So last night I went to see Acrobat in my dreams. This is my review.
First, Eric is hot. So logically his hotness translates into mad mad writing cred, which gets spent lavishly but well in the choice of actors and actresses. The one on the poster is hot in a way Eric can't contain, and she puts on a stellar performance. Her words are like honey. And the other actors and actresses are like bees. And the audience is like the birds watching... watching. OMG It's the birds and the bees!
There were these two people beside me, and I think they were in on the production. They would every so often whisper to one another about the things they were going to do afterward, and chocolate milkshake kept coming up. Interpreting the events of the play in terms of milkshakes led for a delicious but gradually famishing experience.
Finally, the set was okay. They could've used less clay sculptures of Gumbi though, and gone instead for a more Pastafarian atmosphere, maybe throwing in a large screen for a Rickroll or two.
Oh, and one more thing. I didn't see any acrobats, or their normal accompaniment the elephants, giraffes, ducks, and clowns. It was slightly disappointing, but I used my animal crackers to fill in the gaps.
... more seriously, hope you knock them dead!

George Carlin wrote: Comedy's nature has two sides. Everybody wants a good time and a couple of laughs, and of course, the comic wants to be known as a really funny guy. But the language of comedy is fairly grim and violent. It's filled with punchlines, gags, and slapstick. After all, what does a comic worry most about? Dying! He doesn't want to die. "Jeez, I was dyin'. It was like death out there. Like a morgue. I really bombed."
Comics don't want to die, and they don't want to bomb. They want to go over with a bang. And be a real smash. And if everything works out, if they're successful and they make you laugh, they can say, "I killed 'em. I slaughtered those people, I knocked them dead."
And what phrases do we use when we talk about the comic? "He's a riot." "A real scream." "A rib-splitting knee-slapper." "My sides hurt." "My cheeks ache." "He broke me up, cracked me up, slayed me, fractured me, and had me in stitches." "I busted a gut." "I get a real kick out of that guy."
"Laugh? I thought i'd die."

Hmm... Sonic's play sounds like it would be very interesting.Sonic# wrote:
