I picked SSSC's opening myself, due to the song and the anime. However, after that is EBC, as that is more movie like and somehow cooler (yet strangely not my fav, huh...) than SSSC. TSS's was alright, but was short and lacked graphics to make it what it could have been. EB was nice, but it too suffered from the graphics of the day, but still kicked butt considering how other games start. (All your base are belong to us.)

The SSSC opening is my favorite. SSSC was my first Lunar game, and the opening just made a HUGE impact on me when I watched it. I had never seen a video game with an opening like that, it blew my mind away. I didn't know they made games with anime scenes and such awesome music. It was so captivating for me, and I was completely absorbed in the type of fantasy feeling it was giving off. I was nine years old, so it was a pretty big deal to me. xD It appealed so much to my imagination.
I loved the animation, but I think the reason why I liked this opening the best is for the song. It has so much meaning for me, when I hear it, I just get flooded with all kinds of memories and emotions. And when I watch the opening sequence, I feel like I'm apart of the Lunar family, if that makes any sense. xD I don't know how to quite explain it. I just feel really attached and close to all the characters. Like they've been my best friends since I was nine when I first played the game. x3 It makes me feel really gushy, and all my love for Lunar really comes out when I watch it. -^^-

I too picked the SSSC opening, as it was my first Lunar as well... and well, it was a beautiful opeing animation (I had been looking for a game with good anime cutscenes, and I got above and beyond what I was hoping for!) with a song that still makes me smile when I hear it. I remember being excited and really ready to jump into the game after watching it, I wanted to find out more about these people. Now when I watch it makes me happy to see the characters I love so much... so much that it makes me want to play again! ^^

I like SSSC's better, with all of the different people and the music... though for EBC, I like the pictures on the wall as the opening credits roll.

Aye, 9 years old? I feel old >_> But I know what you mean. I mean, before Lunar I played games and they where just that, games. When I played Lunar, it became so much more. It became a sancturary, it became a family, it became something to look forward to, and so much more. I had never felt emotions like that before for game characters, and at the end of the game I did not want to talk to laike because I wanted to go explore the world again, talk to every one in the game... I mean it felt as if I was going to leave Colorado (the state I live in) and my relatives behind (since 90% of my family + extended family lives in Colorado) and never see them or Colorado again. So sad and that's how I felt about Lunar when I beat it. The anime scenes just made the game more personal, and the opening alone was enough to do that.

TSS was definately an emotional experience for me, but it didn't really hook me right away. I kept expecting the story to go into some silly cliched direction, like I remember at the very beginning when you go to see Luna at the springs, and you find just her flowers there and Nall is asking, "Where's Luna?" I was waiting for some villain to jump out and say, "I kidnapped your girlfriend! Now you must go rescue her!" It wasn't until Luna, and then Ramus, left the party that it really sank in that these characters were much more realistically written than a typical video game, and I started really seeing them as actual characters like you'd see in a movie or read about in a book.
But the game didn't REALLY get me emotionally involved until Ghaleon's betrayal in the White Dragon Cave. TSS really makes a point to make Ghaleon seem like a good guy who was being taken advantage of by Xenobia, and I was also much younger and thus less prepared to see a massive plot twist like that coming, so his actions in those few scenes really hit home for me (and coming home to Burg and finding it deserted.... chilling).

EB for me. The full cutscene of Lucia's awakening from the crystal and looking down on Lunar was amazing. Though admittedly, TSS was so far ahead for it's time. I loved it when I saw it. No other game, considering this came out in 93, had a full anime cutscene like that. People here don't realize how big of a deal that was for a game to have a full animated opening. EB's just took it one step further, and instead of having a music video type opening, they intwined the opening into the story.
By SSSC and EBCs openings, other games were doing it, so it wasn't nearly as special. But they were both still good. With the remakes, it was Luna's Boat Scene that everyone was wowed by. I still remember everyone talking about it at all of the regular Lunar forums and chats and such back then. Tsu Ba Sa (SSSC's opening) was also liked, but the Boat Scene was amazing for fans that had been waiting for the remakes for a long time.

Pretty Faust is the only dude played EBC before SSSC...
How did you enjoy SSSC having played EBC first? Did knowing half the plot before the game even begins ruin anything?
Yea...After beating EBC went straight to SSSC, after borrowing it from a mate who was too lazy to beat the game...In a way yes SSSC was sort of ruin for me... Never will Faust repeat the mistake again * clenches puny fist in the air*
Anyways by the time I realised I should stop EBC and start with SSSC it was too late, fell in love with and busy drooling at Lucia... * drools again*
