We'll see the first game about 5-10 years from now. When I clicked on new games it took me to an Xbox 360 link which I am not excited about in the least. PS3 or Wii for me, but I can't deal with most of Wii's putrid graphics especially on an HDTV.

This gives Gaijinworks rights to Valis X, the much maligned revival of the Valis series as an eroge, doesn't it? I'm sure it's 100% off the radar, of course.

Hey, so long as it's not on the 360, I'm game.
Also, I seriously hope they bring Waku Waku 7 out sometime in the future.

Man, I need to play DF someday. I have all four disc arts and I've never put any of them into the Saturn. >_<

I finally got to the point financially where I could go back and actually start purchasing Saturn RPGs. I still don't have Albert Odyssey or Dragon Force, but the day Shining Force III arrived in the mail, my Saturn broke. The disc drive motor is dead, I think; discs won't spin at all.

I will keeeeeeel you! I swear I played that game a disgusting amount of time when it was released (13 hours straight one day, yes I'm crazy). I wasn't fortunate enough to have the funds to try and secure all four disc versions, but you need to at least give the game a try. There was a sequel released in Japan that I never played, but apparently it wasn't as good as the first.

As for Shining Force III, I barely touched mine. It was a real bummer that they never released parts II, and III in the US. That is definitely something that needs to be rectified in a localized collection. Hello stupid Sega, instant seller!! I think I just didn't want to invest time in the game when I didn't have the complete set to enjoy, so I just moved on to something else. My Saturn collection would make a lot of people envious, both import and domestic.

How old is your Saturn?

My US one is actually still running (I got it the week it was released in the US). I did get a Japanese one last year to play the second-third parts of Shining Force III (limited memory didn't let me carry my save over otherwise).

I'm sure there're a few places you could still pick up a new/used Saturn (I got my Japanese one from Mad-Gear LLC in particular, though I'm sure some show up on eBay for cheap). Though someone here with more technical expertise might be able to offer other suggestions, maybe replacing the drive motor perhaps? KF

I honestly don't know. I purchased it used years after the fact, and I get the feeling that the previous owner didn't take the best care of it. It worked for me for a good three or four years, though.

I actually do plan on buying both another US Saturn and a Japanese Saturn eventually, but it's going to have to wait for a little while.

Kiz, look at the bottom of your Saturn for the manufacture date. Mine is June 1995. I had my Saturn modded with a switch, but I think the last time I used it I was worried it was dying so I haven't used it. It will be a real bummer if it dies on me because then I'd have to buy both a US and a Japanese system, because import cartridges are a pain in the butt and never work as good as they're supposed to.

I bought Vampire Savior (Darkstalkers 3) or Dungeons and Dragons Collection brand new with a 4-Meg RAM Cart and the damn thing never seemed to work. I always had to use the one that came with my copy of the Japanese Street Fighter vs. X-MEN.

A new Blaster Master was released on wiiware today. I hear it's one of Sunsoft's most popular series, but I've never tried it. Now that they have the rights to the Xak series, maybe they'll release a game from it. I've always liked Ys and it looks similar.

I have a US Saturn and the import cartridge player. The only import I have is Wachenroder, because Yoshitoshi ABe did the art for it. I've always wanted to get TSS and EB Saturn versions, but I am not good with Japanese at all (the main reason stopping me from playing is I need a decent Item translation list, the rest is easily managable since I know the plot).

I've always wondered this, so I'd love help from you Lunar masters: There were Saturn versions in Japan... but we never got them. Did WD port the Saturn to PSX first or did the PSX version come out in Japan and they decided to just do that vers instead? I was under the impression that JP didn't have PSX versions... but my gut says thats wrong. Im so confused! XD

You really, really should! It is a fantastic game. Probably in the top three titles for Saturn in my modest opinion :P

In my experience, especially as the Saturn gets older, the import cartridge player gets less and less reliable. If you're not playing a lot of imports it's no big deal, but about 80% of my Saturn games are imports, so I finally buckled down and got a Japanese one. So, don't bother getting a new one now, but if you do start getting a lot of imports, you may want to consider that.

By the way, are you sure item translations would be necessary for the Saturn SSS and EBC? They use all icons, so even if you can't read the text, you can memorize what the icons for herbs, etc., are.

There were PS1 versions of both SSS and EB.

Working Designs had to port the PS1 versions. They may have worked some of the translation effort off of the Saturn versions, but given the differences (programming-wise), it's really unlikely that they did a port, as it would've taken a lot of unnecessary effort to make the US PS1 versions identical to the Japanese PS1 versions.

Does that answer your question? KF
