Lunar Threads

Strange that this wasn't a Wii/DS combo, but the PS3 is well deserving. I really hope we get a release in the U.S. because the game looks beautiful. I could see Lunar in a similar style.

That is really pretty. I'd like to see more games in a similar style.

Very want. I will import this if it doesn't hit the US. But it probably will, Ghibli is pretty popular in the right circles.

I hope they don't do the whole PS3 game cel-shaded. I'd love for them to leave in some of the hand-drawn animation.

There will most likely be some animated cinemas taken directly from the film, and I'm sure the opening will be full animation. I'm looking forward to the film itself, and I just hope the game turns out to be something just as spectacular. Something so promising can always be ruined by poor execution.

The DS game follows the same source material and style, but the games will apparently be uniquely different so you don't feel like you have to choose one over the other. I don't know if there is a publisher already eyeing the PS3 version up for release here, but I contacted XSEED to make note of it as it falls into their realm of interest. I don't know if they are looking to localize any PS3 games though.

I've been eying this game since I first heard about it. If they manage to release it here, I will be very happy.

I heard someone from Level 5 is in charge of the story though, they've never been good at that.

And this is why I'd love Level 5 to make a Lunar game so long as Shigema wrote it, Kubooka designed it, and Iwadare composed it.

I don't know if this is right or not, but this seems to be an original work from Studio Ghibli and it's not from an actual film. I was hoping there was actually a film coming out, but apparently the animation is in-game only. I don't see how that's possible when there was that comparison shot showing the animation scene and the actual in-game graphics of the same scene. Here I was expecting a film release, but I don't have enough information if it's just a game or a game and film.

Maybe that. It could have also just been dummied up for the demo. Or perhaps even used internally as a sort of, "This is what we want the game to look like."

I guess Vyse's idea makes more sense.

I don't think one is exclusive over the other, because it appears as though different scenes are shown animation wise for both platforms. I just want a film and the game.

Ni no Kuni is more or less confirmed for a US release. Excuse me, I need to go w00t.

Also, I read about an interesting gameplay mechanic in Nintendo Power. Apparently the game is going to come with a book full of runes, and to do various things in the game you'll need to draw these runes on the DS. I wonder how that'll work on the PS3. Something with Move, maybe?

I don't know if they'll bother with Move support on the PS3 version, because you're actually writing with the stylus in the DS game. It's still a possibility though if they want to incorporate movement into the spellcasting.

I just want a breathtaking soundtrack and a decent story, not to mention fun gameplay. I think a lot of people will be looking forward to this game, at least I would hope it gets major recognition.

I need to preorder the DS edition. And then the PS3 edition.

I can't wait.

I'm disappointed that the battle system looks to be real-time and very much like FFXIII's Paradigm Shift.

Only on the PS3 version. The DS version plays like Dragon Quest.
