Jenner & Kaiser - Wedding Pics
Hi everyone! We finally have -all- our photos together and edited, including the official ones from the photographer and everything from our honeymoon. Sorry it took so long, but I thought we'd brighten the mood a bit with this.
So here's phase 1 of the wedding photos. I'll post phase 2 and phase 3 tomorrow and the day after, and all the honeymoon ones in a separate thread.
The Nikah
A nikah is the Muslim wedding ceremony. This is the part where we're actually married, but it's not a huge and elaborate thing (that's saved for the reception). This is also the only thing strictly required for an Islamic marriage.
We had our nikah on 8/25, at the Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Herndon, Virginia. Most of these pictures were taken by my sister. (We only had a photographer for the other two events.)
Signing the marriage contract.
Us putting the rings on one another.
My family in the park
Jenner and me at the Korean Bell Garden in the park
The two of us at the gazebo out on the lake
One last shot of just the two of us in the park
This is just a small selection of the pictures we have. I've posted the complete set up at:
http://www.lunar-net.com/wedding/photos.html#nikah
and on Facebook for those of you who are friends.
Check back tomorrow and we'll have pictures of the Gayeholud here! KF

Great location, adorable couple.

Re: Jenner & Kaiser - Wedding Pics
Ok, so here's phase 2 of the wedding photos. I'll post phase 3 tomorrow, and all the honeymoon ones in a separate thread.
The Gayeholud
A gayeholud is a Bengali ceremony done before the wedding. It literally means "applying turmeric" (holud) and refers to the tradition of smearing turmeric paste on the bride and groom while feeding them sweets. It's a really fun ceremony, and this was the first one that all our friends and family were invited to.
We had our gayeholud on 9/1, in Nashville, at Traveler's Rest. All of these shots were taken by our photographer at Lotus Blossom Photography. Here goes!
Part of the decorations
George (WD RPG WD) talking with a couple of our friends from OCR.
In case you forgot whose wedding it was!
Aww
This is a good shot of some of the mehndi (henna) on Jenner's arms.
Meg working with the floral crown on Jenner.
Two thumbs up! BTW, the tradition is that the wife isn't supposed to do any housework as long as the mehndi design lasts. Also the tradition is that the darker the henna is, the more your husband loves you. Or your in-laws. Or something. People kind of started making stuff up as they went along by the end.
Me and Jenner touring around.
Showing off our rings to Alunissage and I-Gene.
Family shots
aww
Several of the LunarNET folks! I-Gene, Alun, George, and Meg are in this one.
Jenner's entrance
Getting worn out by this point... but it hasn't really started yet
Oh right, the food
Aww
Most of our family was nice when feeding us...
...mostly {^^}.
Once again, this is just a small selection of the pictures we have. I've posted the complete set up at:
http://www.lunar-net.com/wedding/photos.html#gayeholud
and on Facebook for those of you who are friends.
Check back tomorrow and we'll have pictures of the Reception! KF

Re: Jenner & Kaiser - Wedding Pics
I'll need to check out the rest of the pictures when I can... but they look really cool. Some of the stuff resembles a wedding I attended in Maharashtra, India a few years back. Probably isn't that surprising given the geographic proximity and historical ties between Bangladesh and India. Of course, that wedding was also Hindu, not Muslim, but there are certain other things that do match -- like the mehndi (even is same word in Marathi).

If it wasn't obvious from context, I-Gene is my husband. He's posted here once or twice. I'll have to let him know about this thread.

Re: Jenner & Kaiser - Wedding Pics
Ok, so here's phase 3 of the wedding photos. This is the last of them, and all the honeymoon ones will be in a separate thread later this week.
The Reception
The reception was the major event. This was on 9/2, in Nashville, and we had all our friends and family there (about 300 or so total I think). All of these shots were taken by our photographer at Lotus Blossom Photography.
Some initial shots of us and our family.
Table decorations. BTW, we had the main tables named after the cities and villages in Lunar. This one was Takkar.
Guest book - a.k.a. save point.
Our wedding cake had an elephant! Also, Lunar-themed.
Some of the guests
Jenner's entrance.
The beginning of the gate ceremony. This is where I try to get inside but am blocked by the bride's party. Those are my cousins backing me up here.
And Alun comes around and steals my shoes!
"Ok, ok, guys, I seriously don't have a lot of money on me."
"Can we make a deal here?"
And we're back.
The mirror ceremony. We're to look at the reflection of the other one in the mirror and say what we see. Usually something romantic or cheesy (or in my case, both).
Sharing drinks.
Close-up of our rings
Cake!
Family shots again
Our friend Amy played two songs for us at the reception. She even modified one of her songs to add a little verse about the two of us {^^}.
My cousin Bindu also sang for us {^^}.
Our first dance. Our song was "Memories of Life" from Final Fantasy IX, covered and re-recorded by Kate Covington. (You can take a listen to it here).
Once again, this is just a small selection of the pictures we have. I've posted the complete set up at:
