Luciano Pavarotti passed away early this morning, ending his long struggle with pancreatic cancer. This man was hugely inspirational to me; hearing his rendition of "Nessun Dorma" when I was a young impressionable teenager made me want to sing. He was one of the last great opera stars, and his passing makes me very sad.
I only learned about it today, and the news report I read said he passed away at approximately 5:00am, which I assume was the time in Italy. I guess I'm not really sure exactly what time it would have been here.
That's a real shame, definitely much respect for that man.
