I assume you mean at the reception and not during the ceremony. For that, I have no real preference, though I would prefer it more dignified than, say, Entrance of the Gladiators. (A MIDIfied version can be heard here.)
I've been running the Romeo and Juliet ballet soundtrack through my head. It's by a fellow named Prokofiev. I saw it this weekend, and besides having Fonteyn and Nureyev dancing exceptionally together... I just liked hearing the music. And this being one of my girlfriend's favorite ballets, it would be mutually appropriate. http://pianosociety.com/cms/index.php?section=185 has the biography of Prokofiev, as well as some samples. Op. 75 includes music derived from the ballet.
And finally, there are a few video game pieces I'd consider. Perhaps something from Grandia II or Earthbound, appropriately rendered. A Deus?
But I'd consult heavily with others first, to make sure it was appropriate. I'm unsure if my wedding will even be a traditional one at this point.

Nice one! Haven't thought of that but for the longest time I have planned on having Aerith's music (when she died, FFVII) at my funeral. And I am dead so I wouldn't care what friends and family thought..Kizyr wrote:I am totally going to have Lucia's Theme playing for the first dance. I'm sure nobody's ever thought of that yet!

The joke is actually that DM Lou had Lucia's Theme played at his wedding, and Alun had Luna's introduction during the processional for her wedding.AnimeJei wrote:Nice one! So, no, those aren't things that I thought up. KF

Well, other than Lucia's Theme, we did have some more amusing songs played at my wedding... We stuck to what's on the traditional, church-approved list for the actual ceremony, but we did let our hair down at the reception.
During dinner, we had an orchestrated remix of the "Super Mario Brothers Medley," (Cathy, my wife's, choice, believe it or not.). We also threw in "Fly Me To the Moon" (the Sinatra version, as that's what the DJ had) during dinner as well. (Yes, there were a fair bit of anime/game geeks at my wedding).
That pretty much sums up the anime/game music, though. Some of my friends did request some songs I made AMVs to, and the DJ, in an act of impeccable timing, played "Dirty Water" by the Standells when we finished the whole cake cutting thing.
Now, background on the "Dirty Water" thing: "Dirty Water" is the song they play at Fenway Park whenever the Red Sox win. I happen to be a huge Red Sox fan, but for much of my life my romantic endeavors were met with more or less the same luck as their World Series endeavors. In fact, when asked when I'd get married, get a steady girlfriend, etc., I used to say, "Oh, with my luck, probably when the Red Sox win the World Series."
Now, I started dating Cathy right around the start of spring training in 2004, the year the Sox actually did manage to win the Series. The rest, shall we say, is history.

Yes, we did... Given the number of Lunar fans/people familiar with Lunar in attendance it was quite amusing. Still, since we didn't really have a song that was "our song," per se, Cathy approved of it. We had a Dixie Chicks song (I think it was "Love Goes On" -- no idea really, as Cathy's the Dixie Chicks fan) as our final song to kinda balance out my choices and her choices.AnimeJei wrote:Whoa DM Lou, so you DID play Lucia's theme at your wedding?! Youse rock!! It's a great idea!! Some other great selections too. Wow, so youse sorta had a "Fever Pitch" story..hehe.
And yes, we did sorta have a "Fever Pitch" story -- enough that my wife's grandparents said that movie reminded them of us.
