Song of the moment

Thought I'd create another "song in my head at the moment" thread, just for fun. Anyone can add to it.
Oh also, hi everyone who doesn't know me. I'm an old member (actually an admin who doesn't do his job as an admin), and I pop up again every now and then.
Anyway...here's what's in my head at the moment:
Amanda Palmer
"Astronaut: A Short History of Nearly Nothing"
Is it enough to have some love
Small enough to slip inside a book?
Small enough to cover with your hands
Because everyone around you wants to look?
Is it enough to have some love
Small enough to fit inside the cracks?
The pieces don't fit together so good
With all the breaking and all the gluing back...
And I am still not getting what I want.
I want to touch the back of your right arm.
I wish you could remind me who I was,
Because every day I'm getting further off...
But you are, my love, the astronaut,
Flying in the face of science.
I will gladly stay an afterthought.
Just bring back some nice reminders.
And is getting easy to pretend
That life goes on without you in the wake?
And can you see the means without the end,
In the random frantic action that we take?
And is it getting easy not to care,
Despite the many rings around your name?
It isn't funny, and it isn't fair!
You've traveled all this way, and it's the same.
But you are, my love, the astronaut,
Flying in the face of science.
I will gladly stay an afterthought.
Just bring back some nice reminders.
I would tell them anything to see you split the evening,
But as you see, I do not have an awful lot to tell.
Everyone is sick for something that they can find fascinating--
Everyone but you, and even you aren't feeling well.
Yes, you are, my love, the astronaut,
Crashing in the name of science.
Just my luck, they found your upper half.
It's a very nice reminder.
It's a very nice reminder.
You may be acquainted with the night,
But I have seen the darkness in the day.
And you must know, it is a terrifying sight,
Because you and I are living the same way.

The song in my head at the moment isn't a lyrical one... It's "Rising" by the Yoshida Brothers. Shamisen has never been so addicting. @.@
If you want to listen to it, find it over
here, at youtube! It's so good! ♥'s!

Lamb of God
"Contractor"
Stomping lines in international sand,
feeding blood drinking habits of the Elephant Man.
Quench his thirst; when black water rises
He takes you around toward the burning horizon
Yeah, -Meryod-, lets take a ride,
We're rollin' round irate, someone has got to die
Trick or Treat, in dying need
So roll the dice as we leave,
'cause it's 8 miles of pure luck with warm bags of... (???????)
Guaran--Fatal Hopper--teed,
Someone will bleed.
Guaran--Fatal Hopper--teed,
Someone will bleed.
Privatize to conceal all the lies,
Big Business is booming,
like its the fourth of July.
No need for all the formalities,
Jump the kangaroo corpse,
and flank beneath the trees.
Yeah, -Meryod-, lets take a ride,
Running red lights in a green zone,
Someone has got to die.
(Pity me?) there's nothing here to see,
So throw the dice for me please, and let's
Store the pint of blood to cash in to refund
Guaran--Fatal Hopper--teed,
Just sign the deed.
Guaran--Fatal Hopper--teed,
Someone will bleed.
Someone has got to die.
Ours is not to reason why
Ours is but to do if the pay rate's right.
Black liquid assets, -Fatal Hopper- the Mujahideen,
Paint their picket fences Red with the American dream.
Lay your hammer-hammer down,
get the job done right.
Jacked up; and cocked in, to a firefight.
Covert reactions said you never saw me.
A glass parking lot in the American Dream.
Yeah.
They all die.
-Fatal Hopper- Murder.
Guaran--Fatal Hopper--teed,
Someone will bleed.
Lay your hammer-hammer down,
get the job done right.
Jacked up; and cocked in, to a firefight.
Covert reactions said you never saw me.
A glass parking lot in the American Dream.
Awesome new single, if your a metal fan and haven't heard it, hit up their myspace page.

Totally agree! I love the Yoshida Bros, but I wish they had more awesome songs like Rising.
Have you heard Monkey Majik's song titled "Change"? The Yoshida Bros did the intro for it
My exroomie/bff got me in to both of them <3

Thanks for the link! I've been listening to Monkey Majik all day now! XD; I really like their song
"卒業、そして未来へ。" The only problem is that I don't know what that translates into Romaji, though, so I can't tell people "I like this song!" outloud. >.>;
Also, interesting fact: They two main singers are
Canadian. I was totally shocked (and proud!).

Islands - Rough Gem
The world beat you for the something nice
You worked hard, died more
You mined what you died for
Diamonds di di di di di uh
You can whistle my name
It's the mines, in Africa
That are to blame
You can Scoop out my brain
Shape it into an ear and then tell me your pain
I've been awake from the first day
Stayed awake, stayed awake
The rabbit was removed by the whole moon
Longer, short road
Dig deep but don't dig too deep
When it's late you'll see the hole is empty and oh so deadly
They want me raw and smooth like glass
They want it fast but they don't want flaws
I'm a girl's best friend
Can you cut, I can cut, 'cause I'm a rough gem
who lives in those lights in the distance?
Watered down, the rain will help you out
I had a dream, it was all a dream
But it was ruined by the sun shining in through me
Its been more than a year and its still the song I listen to the most. I just love it ^^

Young - By Hollywood Undead
We are young
But we have heart
Born in this world as it all falls apart
We are strong
We don't belong
Born in this world as it all falls apart
I see the children in the rain like the parade before the pain
I see the love, I see the hate, I see this world that we can make
I see the life, I see the sky, Give it all to see you fly
Yes, we wave this flag of hatred, but you're the ones who made it
Watch the beauty of all our lies passing right before my eyes
I hear the hate in all your words. all the wars to make us hurt
We get so sick oh so sick, we never wanted all this
Medication for the kids with no reason to live
So we
March to the drums of the dammed as we come
Watch it burn in the sun - we are numb
We are young
But we have heart
Born in this world as it all falls apart
We are strong
We don't belong
Born in this world as it all falls apart
As we walk among these shadows, in these streets, these fields of battle
Take it up, we wear the medal, raise your hands with burning candles
Hear us whisper in the dark, in the rain you see the spark
Feel the beating of our hearts, fleeting hope as we depart
All together, walk alone against all we've ever known
All we've ever really wanted was a place to call our home
But you take all we are; the innocence of our hearts
Made to kneel before the alter as you tear us apart
So we
March to the drums of the dammed as we come
Watch it burn in the sun - we are numb
We are young
But we have heart
Born in this world as it all falls apart
We are strong
We don't belong
Born in this world as it all falls apart
We will fight or we will fall
Till the angels save us all
We will fight or we will fall
Till the angels save us all
We will fight or we will fall
Till the angels save us all
We will fight or we will fall
Till the angels save us all
We are young
But we have heart
Born in this world as it all falls apart
We are strong
We don't belong
Born in this world as it all falls apart
We are young
But we have heart
Born in this world as it all falls apart
We are strong
We don't belong
Born in this world as it all falls apart

One last song for the Bush administration:
Valerie Plame
The Decemberists
Oh, Valerie Plame
If that really is your name
I would just shout the same to the world
Oh, Valerie Plame
So they made a wreck of you
Give me the rest of you and I'll give the world
But you were just some silly girl
Taking in the sights of your empire's colony
So I took you into my confidence
Without a thought of consequence
To my heart or to my mind
But Valerie Plame
If that really is your name
I would just shout the same to the world
La da da da
La da da da
La da da da da da, da da da da
Oh, Valerie Plame
If that really is your name
I would just shout the same plume on high
Dear Valerie Plame
I live for that long exchange
Outside of the bureau de change in Shanghai
But I was just some stupid boy on a bus
When your nom de guerre was code-name Caroline
So my vespa became your chariot
From the green zone Marriott
To be etched upon my mind
But Valerie Plame
If that really is your name
I would just shout the same to to the world
And when they flashed your picture across the screen
How my heart seemed to leap out of me
And they attached a list of your identities
But the one you'll always be
To me
Is Valerie Plame
If that really is your name
I would just shout the same to the world
Valerie Plame
If that really is your name
I would just shout the same to the world
La da da da da da da
Hey, hey, Valerie Plame

Sarah Brightman, I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper. Like many cheesy songs, I probably like it too much. I also think the dancing is better than anything today. You can watch the hilarious video here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceXAZomoJ80
Speaker 1:
Arcaida
X-ray X-ray delta niner niner zero
This is Starfleet Control
You are clear to go hyper space
Acknowledge
Speaker 2:
Affirmative, Star Comm
We have situation gold
Speaker 1:
Niner niner zero, roger
You're looking good for trans-light
Sarah singing:
I lost my heart to a starship trooper
I lost my heart to a starship trooper
Oh...
Hey, Captain Strange, won't you be my lover
You're the best thing that I've ever discovered
Flash Gordon's left me, he's gone to the stars
An evil Darth Vader has me banished to Mars
Tell me, Captain Strange, do you feel my devotion
Or are you like a droid, devoid of emotion
Encounters one and two are not enough for me
What my body needs is close encounter three
I lost my heart to a starship trooper
Flashing lights in hyper space
Fighting for the Federation
Hand in hand we'll conquer space
Listen, Captain Strange, what's our destination
The scanners seem to indicate a small deviation
Static on the comm - it's Starfleet Command
Requesting your position, it's their final demand
You're intentions are known, they've found out at last
So if you're gonna take me, please make it fast
Touch me, feel me, do what you will
I want to feel that galatic thrill
I lost my heart to a starship trooper
Flashing lights in hyper space
Fighting for the Federation
Hand in hand we'll conquer space
Speaker 1:
Niner niner zero
This is Star Comm
We got a problem
On your vector
Request status check
Over
Sarah singing:
Oh, baby...
Speaker 3:
Arcadia
This is Strategy Control
You have course devation
At five mark six
Acknowledge
Sarah singing:
I love you...
Speaker 1:
Arcaida
We show condition red
Confirm
Sarah singing:
Love me...
Speaker 3:
What's going on out there
Sarah singing:
Oh...
I lost my heart to a starship trooper
Flashing lights in hyper space
Fighting for the Federation
Hand in hand we'll conquer space
I lost my heart to a starship trooper
Oh...
Space suit is lying on control room floor
Pulse rate increasing as the heat factor soars
Take me, make me feel the force
Ignore the computers, we're locked on course
I lost my heart to a starship trooper
Flashing lights in hyper space
Fighting for the Federation
Hand in hand we'll conquer space
I lost my heart to a starship trooper
Flashing lights in hyper space
Fighting for the Federation
Hand in hand we'll conquer space
Speaker 1, while Sarah sings
the previous lines repeatedly:
Niner niner zero
This is Star Comm
Be advised
You have serious vector deviation
I repeat: serious vector deviation
Arcadia
Niner niner zero
Do you copy
This is Starfleet Control
To all ships in sector five

All ships squawk ident
Starship Arcadia
This is Starfleet Control
Squawk ident
I repeat: squawk ident

Jealous Kind by Jars of Clay - been on a Jars of Clay kick lately. Didn't realize they actually did good music after their self-titled album back in the late 90s. I always liked them, but had never really given their newer stuff much of a look.
i built another temple to a stranger
i gave away my heart to the rushing wind
i set my course to run right into danger
i sought the company of fools instead of friends
Chorus:
you know i've been unfaithful
with lovers in lines
while you're turning over tables
with the rage of a jealous kind
i chose the gallows to the aisle
thought that love would never find
hanging ropes will never keep you
and your love of a jealous kind
love of a jealous kind
tryin' to jump away from rock that keeps on spreading
for solace in the shift of the sinking sand
i'd rather feel the pain all too familiar
than be broken by a lover i don't understand
'cause i don't understand
[CHORUS]
love of a jealous kind, yeah
love of a jealous kind
love of a jealous kind
one hundred other lovers, more, one hundred other altars
if i should slow my pace and finally subject me to grace
and love that shames the wise
betrays the hearts deceit and lies
and breaks the back of foolish pride
[CHORUS]
love of a jealous kind
love of a jealous kind
love of a jealous kind

Song: Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours
Like a fool I went and stayed too long
Now Im wondering if your loves still strong
Oo baby, here I am, signed, sealed delivered, Im yours
Then that time I went and said goodbye
Now Im back and not ashamed to cry
Oo baby, here I am, signed, sealed delivered, Im yours
Here I am baby
Oh, youve got the future in your hand
(signed, sealed delivered, Im yours)
Here I am baby,
Oh, youve got the future in your hand
(signed, sealed, delivered, Im yours)
Ive done alot of foolish things
That I really didnt mean
Hey, hey, yea, yea, didnt i, oh baby
Seen alot of things in this old world
When I touched them they did nothing, girl
Oo baby, here I am, signed, sealed delivered, Im yours, oh Im yours
Oo-wee babe you set my soul on fire
Thats why I know you are my only desire
Oo baby, here I am, signed, sealed delivered, Im yours
Here I am baby
Oh, youve got the future in your hand
(signed, sealed delivered, Im yours)
Here I am baby,
Oh, youve got the future in your hand
(signed, sealed, delivered, Im yours)
Ive done alot of foolish things
That I really didnt mean
I could be a broken man but here I am
With your future, got your future babe (here I am baby)
Here I am baby (signed, sealed delivered, Im yours)
Here I am baby, (here I am baby)
Here I am baby (signed, sealed delivered, Im yours)
Here I am baby, (here I am baby)
Here I am baby (signed, sealed delivered, Im yours)

The Last Firstborn by Celldweller
Oh man, I can't believe
That you did what they said you did
And to this day
I've still gotta say
That in my mind I question it
I wish
I knew
What you had meant
Before you went
And left me wondering
To just an echo of your voice
'Listen...'
Now I wait to take my turn to bleed
Like a kid playing
With a razor blade
And wonder if I have
The balls at all
Or am I gonna be afraid
Where are you?
What do you think?
'cause I'm not sure when
Knocking at death's door
If I will be welcome in
Or be left alone outside
[Chorus:]
I hear the sound of a heart
From the shadow in the dark
Waiting for the poison to hit its mark
(listen--my son)
I see the darkness surround
The shape on the ground
The killer straight up
And a body face down
(firstborn-last one)
I hear the
Din of the screams,
Sorrow in streams
The smell of farewell and gasoline
(listen--my son)
I see a heart set free
And my legacy
Hear a voice from a shadow
That is beckoning me
(firstborn-last one)
I guess there comes a point
When you think to yourself
"This isn't worth it,
It isn't worth it"
And now I feel what you felt
And now I feel what you felt inside brother
And now I feel what you felt
This isn't worth it,
It isn't worth it
[Chorus]
[x6]
I wish it didn't [x4]
I wish it didn't end this way
Live a life in hell
Through a mortal shell
Asphyxiating smell
For a crime lifetime
Imagination locked in a cell
And to the other firstborn,
I see the same scene
That must play over in your mind
And now how much more
I'm sure
It's -Fatal Hopper- with your head
Just like it's -Fatal Hopper- up mine.
"Listen my son - firstborn last one"
The message you sent out to me-
I can't change what's meant to be
The message you sent out to me-
I can't change what's meant to be
[Chorus x2]

Song: Great Balls Of Fire
You shake my nerves and you rattle my brain
Too much love drives a man insane
You broke my will
But what a thrill
Goodness gracious great balls of fire!
I laughed at love cause I thought it was funny
But you came along and moooooved me honey
I've changed my mind
This love is fine
Goodness gracious great balls of fire!
Kiss me baby
Mmmm feels good
Hold me baby
Welll I want to love you like a lover should
You're fine, so kind
Got to tell this world that you're mine mine mine mine
I chew my nails and I twiddle my thumbs
I'm real nervous but it sure is fun
C'mon baby, you drive me crazy
Goodness gracious great balls of fire!
(piano solo)
Welll kiss me baby
Mmmm feels good
Hold me baby
Welll I want to love you like a lover should
You're fine, so kind
Got to tell this world that you're mine mine mine mine
I chew my nails and I twiddle my thumbs
I'm real nervous but it sure is fun
C'mon baby, drive me crazy
Goodness gracious great balls of fire!

Goodness gracious great balls of fire!
such an epic song.
My Song would have to be
WEEN - EVEN IF YOU DON'T
I'm goin' crazy - trying to keep you sane
Taking my prescriptions, and forging my name
I was happy this morning
You finally got yourself dressed
Eating raw bacon
It's OK, I was still impressed
I love you - even if you don't
You've got your knife up to my throat
Why do you want to see me bleed?
Rooting through the garbage
For treasures in the trash pile
Seeing my expression
Would always make you smile
Please don't touch my phone book
My friends are getting pissed off
Wake 'em in the morning
Acting like a jerk off
I love you - even if you don't
You've got your knife up to my throat
Why do you want to see me bleed?
(guitar solo)
I love you - even if you don't
You've got your knife up to my throat
Why do you want to see me bleed?

Right now I'm all about "Birthday" by The Sugarcubes (aka Bjork's old band). You kind of need to hear Bjork wailing in the chorus to really understand what's so great about the song, so in lieu of posting the lyrics I'm posting a youtube link. Go listen, and I hope you appreciate it as much as I do.

Bright Eyes: If Winter Ends
i dreamt of a fever,
one that would cure me of this cold, winter set heart.
with heat to melt these frozen tears
burned with reasons as to carry on.
into these twisted months i plunge without a light to follow
but i swear that i would follow anything
just get me out of here.
and you get six months to adapt
then you get two more to leave town.
and in the event that you do adapt
we still might not want you around.
but i fell for the promise of a life with a purpose
but i know that that's impossible now.
and so i drink to stay warm
and to kill selected memories
'cause i just can't think anymore about that
or about her tonight
but i give myself three days to feel better
or else i swear i'll drive right off a -Fatal Hopper- cliff
'cause if i can't learn to make myself feel better
how can i expect anyone else to give a -Dragon Diamond-?
and i scream for the sunlight or a car to take me anywhere
just get me past this dead and eternal snow
'cause i swear that i'm dying, slowly but it's happening
and if the perfect spring is waiting somewhere
just take me there, just take me there, just take me there
and say, and lie to me, and say, and lie to me, and say
it's going to be alright x9
It's really emo, I know, but I couldn't write a better song myself for where I'm at in my life right now. <3

Lemon Demon, While My Keytar Gently Weeps
It's really a song that just has to be heard.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C5ioD3KcVSE. It reminds me some of Daft Punk... it's a pretty good allusion to a George Harrison song, and... I'm deeply in love with Neil Cicierega. So there.
I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my keytar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping
Still my keytar gently weeps
I don't know why nobody told you
How to unfold your love
I don't know how someone controlled you
They bought and sold you
I look at the world and I notice it's turning
While my keytar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my keytar gently weeps
I don't know how you were diverted
You were perverted too
I don't know how you were inverted
No one alerted you
I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my keytar gently weeps
Look at you all...
Still my keytar gently weeps.
