Lunar ONLINE?
I know this topic has probably been discussed but I just tried that video game called Pokemon Online. It reminded me of that old project someone was working on here. It's actually pretty sweet apparently its fan made. I was just thinking it would be real awesome for Lunar can't help but to think what could have been...
Re: Lunar ONLINE?
I was the one who made the game. I don't know what you mean by "what could have been". I play it every night.

There's a sticky saying "Stop bothering me!" and you show-off like that. Pretty curious.WD RPG WD wrote:I was the one who made the game. I don't know what you mean by "what could have been". I play it every night.
Is the project canceled entirely, or did you just "suspend" it, because you got no time? I tried finding more info myself, but I couldn't find any. Asking google leads to a...uhm...turkish(?) mmorpg or such/many different things related to earth's satelite.

I've been working on the game for 10 years in my spare time. I think of it as a hobby. I may release it some day but it will never be anything special due to the limitations I have in programming.. It's quite a large world now. Larger than any real Lunar game. I'm not sure how stable it would be if I tried to make it public. I might test it soon to see if it could handle 30 or so people. The biggest hurdle is the $100 a month charge to use an online server. I'm afraid of the legal ramifications of accepting money from others to run it.

Hey, Brit. How have you been?
I will release it some day. I've put too much work into it. Here is a little visual of what I've been doing for 10 years.
I mixed audio
Here is how it looks designing the overworld graphics. I combined all the Lunar games into one. It was exhausting!
Here is the before and after of just one small map. It took an hour to do one of these. There are over 700 in the game.

Re: Lunar ONLINE?
I'm doing okay.
Everything you've done so far looks amazing, WD RPG WD! You're doing a really nice job on it. ^_^
When you say you're using stuff from all the games does that include the Sega CD's as well or just Sega Saturn/PSX images?

If you look above at my overworld graphic ripping, you can see the top left corner that I'm ripping from the Sega CD version. I'm taking from all 4 games and even some from Harmony and DS.

Re: Lunar ONLINE?
One thing that I thought was really cool in HSS was the interior design of the various towns. I need to replay it, but my recollection is that each town had a bit of a different style. Like, in Iluk there were a lot of circular or square rugs with multiple borders, and in Reza there were a lot of throw pillows on the floors. I mean, multiple houses in each town had these styles. It was a really nice touch. It also had just a tiny bit of homage to TSS in that the Black Dragon Fortress had the purple crystals and sparkle from TSS's Black Dragon Cave. That game's graphic design is seriously overlooked, and I'm glad that you're borrowing from it too.
And, of course, Legend had the cutest sprites in the entire serious, IMO.

Re: Lunar ONLINE?
This place is becoming a little too quiet. My game is getting closer to completion.. Hopefully it will bring some Lunar spirit back.

Welcome back!!!
Hoping that you're able to continue development. I'd offer to help, but, uh, realistically I don't have that kind of time right now... KF

Wow! Glad to hear you're still working on that project WD RPG WD. I would pay to play that. Don't worry about the legal ramifications. Those could be donations and we could be gifted the priviledge of playing.
