Nature, get it off!
Well not too long ago I came back from a camping trip. In just 3 days I took over 400 pictures and a few short video clips. Take a look at the best pictures that I decided uploading to my website (note: the first three pictures were taken outside of the camping trip).

I really like the deer shots quite a bit. On your river shots, if you have a decent tripod, you could always practice getting the water silky smooth by going with a small f-stop and slower shutter speed (depending on the time of day, probably 1/4 second to a second). Shooting flowing water is one of my favorite things to do.
Oh and your composition is good. You're lucky you live next to the mountains and can photograph whenever you can get out there. Makes it easy to practice nature photography.

Huh? Yiff? O_o *confused*
G1: Thanks a lot, I've had no time to practice different shooting modes on the camera. I played with some settings, but I've been sticking it on auto for most of the shots (much to the pissed offiness of some people I've talked to, haha). Anyway, I'll be playing with some of the settings. Flowing water is nice, but on the bigger rivers like this I like the still/crisp shots. If I get a chance to get to the smaller creeks I'll be switching to flowing.
For some reason, I enjoy shooting flowers more, haha.

Since you're the only person who ever introduces anything off-color at this board, your fake concern, in which you do so yet again, is both unnecessary and tiresome.Benevolent_Ghaleon wrote:Thank God there isn't any yiff in this thread.

I'm as confused as you are.phyco126 wrote:Huh? Yiff? O_o *confused*
There's nothing wrong with auto-settings. In fact, if you're trying to practice composition, it can be helpful to just forget about f-stop and shutter speed and all that and work on the setting of the picture. Certainly you'll want to work with the settings if you want to get better, but it all depends on what you want from your photography. Do what you like, not what others want you to do.phyco126 wrote:G1: Thanks a lot, I've had no time to practice different shooting modes on the camera. Heh, there were no squirrels in the mountain . That is a chipmunk. The more you know, and knowing is half the battle! XDPrettyGirlJean wrote:... the one of the squirrel is cute too
Anyway, as for the yiff, no comment on its insertion here.

OMG, really!? I'm so embarrassed, I thought for sure that was a squirrel! lol *^^* Well nonetheless, still very cute ... now I think I should go study photos of woodland creatures so as not to make a similar mistake in the future haha

Tip: Chipmunks are way cuter than squirrels.PrettyGirlJean wrote:OMG, really!? I'm so embarrassed, I thought for sure that was a squirrel! lol *^^* Well nonetheless, still very cute ... now I think I should go study photos of woodland creatures so as not to make a similar mistake in the future haha
Hey, hey, you want to hear a joke? A squirrel walks up to a tree and says "I forgot to store acorns for winter and now I am dead." Ha! It is funny because the squirrel gets dead. KF

chipmunks are cuter, I must agree.
I just saw Up the second time this past weekend, I saw it in 3-D this time, but honestly it didn't change the experience of it much. Still a great movie though!
